Description

Fully updated and re-launched in June 2025, the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3, RQF) is the leading Level 3 prehospital care qualification. Designed to equip first responders with essential life-saving skills that exceed standard HSE first aid requirements, FREC 3 forms the first step in a progressive suite of prehospital care qualifications.

Learners will achieve the competencies outlined in the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Skills Framework at Level D, gaining both the knowledge and practical skills to manage a wide range of prehospital emergency care situations.

This qualification is ideal for individuals seeking to work or volunteer as a first responder. It is also highly relevant for emergency services personnel, security staff, event medical cover providers, and those operating in high-risk environments such as the military, power stations, offshore sites, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of the training.

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that
Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid.

Upon completion of the course including the submission and approval by Qualsafe of the relevant course paperwork, candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for a period of three years.
