We are pleased to introduce our Safeguarding Adult – Level 3 Course. This course is aligned to the learning outcomes for the Core Skills Training Framework (CTSF) as part of the Statutory and Mandatory Training Guidelines.
This course aims to further the knowledge of professionals whom will be responsible for safeguarding adults from harm. This course also recognises that the health sector can make a positive contribution towards safeguarding those that might be less able to protect themselves from harm, neglect or abuse.
It also places at the center of the course the important of effective safeguarding management including ensuring management is trustful and the patients have access to supportive relationships, based upon dignity and respect, between patients, their families and healthcare staff.
This course is suitable for Registered healthcare staff who engage in assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of adults where there are safeguarding concerns (as appropriate to role)

There is no assessment for this course, however participants are expected to participate throughout the course. This course is an attendance only course.
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued following your attendance at this course which is valid for three years.

This session will meet the learning outcomes of our Level 1 and Level 2 course but also cover:
- Identification of possible signs of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect using a person-centred approach.
- Identify adults experiencing abuse, harm or neglect who have caring responsibilities, for other adults or children and make appropriate referrals.
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding, as appropriate to role, of forensic procedures13 in adult safeguarding and knowing how to relate these to practice in order to meet clinical and legal requirements as required
- Understand forensic examinations as part of their role, be able to demonstrate an ability to undertake forensic procedures and know how to present the findings and evidence to legal requirements e) be able to undertake, where appropriate, a risk and/or harm assessment
- How to communicate effectively with adults at risk in particular those with mental capacity issues, learning disability or communication needs
- How to contribute to, and make considered judgements about how to act to safeguard an adult at risk
- How to contribute to / formulate and communicate effective care plans for adults who have been or may be subjected to abuse, harm or neglect
- Demonstrate an understanding of the issues surrounding suspicion of adult abuse, harm and neglect and to know how to effectively manage uncertainty and risk
- How to appropriately contribute to inter-agency assessments by gathering and sharing information
- How to document concerns in a manner that is appropriate for adult safeguarding protection and legal processes
- How to undertake documented reviews of your own (and/or team) adult safeguarding, as appropriate to role. This can be undertaken in various ways, such as through audit, case discussion, peer review, and supervision and as a component of refresher training
- How to deliver and receive supervision within effective models of supervision and/or peer review, and be able to recognise the potential personal impact of adult safeguarding on professionals
- How to apply the lessons learnt from audit and serious case reviews/case management reviews/significant case reviews to improve practice
- How to advise others on appropriate information sharing
- How to appropriately contribute to serious case reviews/case management reviews/significant case reviews, and domestic homicide review processes
- How to obtain support and help in situations where there are safeguarding problems requiring further expertise and experience
- How to participate in and chair multidisciplinary meetings as required
- Demonstrate the skills required to participate in a safeguarding enquiry.
