This course teaches the essential principles of Food Safety; it is designed for workers who do not handle or prepare food, but who work in an environment where food is prepared, served or sold. It prepares learners to work safely around food, to prevent cross contamination, and to understand the fundamentals of good food hygiene. This online, video supported course is designed to meet the needs of learners and employers and can be studied flexibly in one sitting or bite sized chunks, in the workplace or at home.
This course covers a range of content including:
- Food Safety Law
- Pathogenic bacteria
- Controlling food poisioning
- Physical, chemical and allergenic hazards
- Personal hygiene
- Cleaning and food pests
This course is delivered online and can be completed flexibly around your work and home commitments. Learners should aim to complete this course however within 9 months.
Learners will be required to undertake a 30 question multiple question examination. Please do not worry if you are unsuccessful at this on your first sitting, you will be able to take this examination again at no extra cost.
Certificate and Validity
Once you have completed and passed this course you can download and/or print your certificate. A copy of your pass certificate will always be available in your learner admin area.
