Course Description
The QNUK Level 3 Award for first responders is aimed at those that require a more advanced level of first aid knowledge. Typical learners include security operatives, construction and industrial first aiders looking to add to the standard first aid qualification.
Course Duration
This course is delivered over four days.
Pre-Requisites
Upon commencing this qualification learners should be a minimum of 18 years in order to undertake this qualification. Learners should be at least a level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent. Learners are recommended to have previous competence in first aid.
Course Content
This course covers a range of content including:
- Roles and responsibilities of the First Responder
- Safeguarding
- Use of Radios
- Infection control
- Patient assessments
- Airway management
- CPR including modifications
- Management of trauma
- Poisons including drug overdose
- Management of medical emergencies
- Supporting patients suffering from a mental health crisis
- Safer moving and handling of people
Course Assessment
For this course learners are required to undertake practical observation and a multiple-choice question paper. For the MCQ paper, each learner will be required to score a minimum of 80% correct answers to achieve a pass.
Learners must have sufficient command of the English language to understand and undertake the recommended assessment methods for this qualification and it is strongly recommended that learners should be working at level 2 English literacy.
Certificate and Validity
Upon completion of the course including the submission and approval by QNUK of the relevant course paperwork, candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for a period of three years.
